I think the one thing missing in the Spotify Wrapped analysis is how music and personal identity are interwoven concepts. Spotify Wrapped works because the music you listen to is part of your uniqueness, your style, your personality. People share it because it's a graphic representation of them as a person. I wouldn't share a 'Slack Wrapped' because the amount of messages I send on Slack or the emojis I use are nothing to do with who I am or perceive myself to be.

This is up there with “we have this giant list of never activated, dormant or churned users if you just email them we can reactivate at least 5% of them. Easy money”

Unpacking why it works for Spotify is such a simple yet profound mental shift. Boils down to really thinking through what could work for you vs. Copy/Pasting a growth strategy. Also, why is it so easy to downplay the effort of a polished experience?! 😂
